Branch Programs

  • Certificate of Merit

Certificate of Merit (CM) is an evaluation program that encourages and promotes consistent and conscientious effort on the part of the student, and rewards meritorious achievement with certificates and special recognition. The program is based on a solid foundation of systematic progression through eleven (11) Levels, from Preparatory through Advanced (Level 10).

  • Recitals and Concerts

The San Francisco Branch of MTAC sponsors monthly recitals for students of branch members. Recitals feature performers of all levels and ages, and are open to the public free of charge. We also offer special recitals featuring MTAC-SF Branch Piano Competition winners and one member of the MTAC Young Artist Guild.

  • Masterclasses

Our annual masterclasses are designed to provide enrichment for students by having internationally renowned artists as master teachers. In the past we have had artists such as Karl Schnabel, John O'Conner, Adam Wibrowsky, John Perry, Eduardo Delgado and Jane Bastien for piano, and former Metropolitan Opera star Lucine Amara for an unforgettable vocal masterclass which was part of our 100-year celebration.

  • Branch Music Festivals

Each festival celebrates music from a different theme in a friendly and welcoming environment. The event consists of a day of auditions from which approximately 20 students are selected to perform for the general public in the Festival Gala Concert at San Francisco’s historic Old First Church.

  • Community Outreach

The branch provides opportunities for both students and teachers to share music with the broader San Francisco community. Outreach locations include senior residences such as the Jewish Home of San Francisco.
